Here is what we will be working on this week:
3rd Grade:
38.MD.7_b. multiply side lengths to find areas of rectangles with whole number side lengths in the context of solving real world and mathematical problems and represent whole-number products as rectangular areas in mathematical reasoning
40.MD.7_d. recognize area as additive; find areas of rectilinear figures (polygons all angles of which are right angles) by decomposing them into non-overlapping rectangles and adding the areas of the non-overlapping parts, applying this technique to solve real world problems
29.MD.3 draw a scaled picture graph and a scaled bar graph to represent a data set with several categories; solve one- and two-step "how many more" and "how many less" problems using information presented in scaled bar graphs (e.g., draw a bar graph in which each square in the bar graph might represent 5 pets)
4th Grade:
24.NF.3_c. add and subtract mixed numbers with like denominators (e.g., by replacing each mixed number with an equivalent fraction and/or by using properties of operations and the relationship between addition and subtraction)
25.NF.3_d. solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of fractions referring to the same whole and having like denominators by using visual fraction models and equations to represent the problem
5th Grade:
22.NF.5_a. interpret multiplication as scaling by comparing the size of the product to the sizes of the factors without multiplying
23.NF.5_b. explain why multiplying a given number by a fraction greater than 1 results in a product greater than the given number and why multiplying a given number by a fraction less than 1 results in a product smaller than the given number
