September 3rd is Labor Day! Enjoy your day!
This week students will still receive two lessons on Tuesday and Wednesday. Students will have a quiz on Thursday and when they finish immediately begin working on their Exemplar for the week. Since we have worked on the Exemplars for 4 weeks now, I am taking this Exemplar for a classwork grade on Friday. Students may not work on it at home. Students have been taught problem solving strategies as well as how their work will be graded.
3rd - We will be working on measuring lengths to the nearest 1/4 in, 1/2 in, and mm. Students will use rulers in the classroom. We will also be reviewing multiplying by 10, 100, and 1000.
4th - We will be illustrating and explaining multiplication through equations, arrays, and area models while working on 4 digit by 1 digit and 2 digit by 2 digit problems. Students will learn the tradition method, lattice method, and partial products method. If you need help with these methods, please use the Khan Academy tab to review these skills.
5th - We will continue working on order of operations using exponents as it applies to algebra. If you would like to brush up on your order of operations skills, please use the links provided as well as the Khan Academy tab. We will also touch on positive and negative integers.
